The preparation and the equipment that we have fitted into the truck.

Preperations

These started in February 2006 when Steve and I sat down over a beer or two skiing and talked about the kind of vehicle that we wanted to take. 3 main options were discussed, a landrover 110, a Toyota land cruiser and a Bedford ex-army troop carrier MK. We settled on the idea of a larger truck that was 4x4 like the Bedford as the trip has been completed by many Bedfords in the past and we felt that parts and spares would be easily found. The extra space in a larger vehicle would also allow us to take more friends with us to potentially spread some of the cost. However being on a tight budget we thought that a larger truck was out of the question but the search began anyway. Eventually in November 06 we stumbled across our MAN 630 on www.milweb.net.

The truck was everything we were looking for, big enough for at least 4 people to live in, 4 wheel drive and a beauty. My first reaction was that it had to come home with me and it did.
